Worldwide calling

With VoIP you can make phone calls everywhere a broadband Internet connection is present. If you have an IP phone or an ATA you can call worldwide. Another possibility is a so-called ‘softphone’. This is software which you install on your laptop and with which you can make phone calls using a headset and the Internet connection on your laptop.

Most of the VoIP providers work with some sort of pre-paid tariff, or with subscriptions, in the same way as mobile telephone providers. You can make significant savings, especially if you make many calls, or call abroad.

Possibilities

The prices often include many of the services which are normally billed extra, such as incoming number display and call-waiting.  Call-forwarding (to another number or to voicemail) is possible, as is assigning a busy or unobtainable signal to incoming callers.

Furthermore it is possible to pick up voicemails through your browser on-line or to have them sent as attachment to your e-mail address. All these options differ from provider to provider so it is certainly worthwhile to compare their offerings carefully.
